The Tracker gives you the most transparent energy pricing in the UK. Every day, Octopus Energy update the price of your energy based on an independently published wholesale market price. The unit rate is capped at 100p/kWh for electricity and 30p/kWh for gas (including VAT). Below is a graph of the prices for the November 2022 Tracker Tariff for the year of 2023, along with the total average across the year. As you can see the average price is significantly lower than the standard variable rate for gas and electricity for the same period. As a comparison the Energy Price Cap rates between 1st October to 31st December 2023 were as follows: Electricity 27p per kWh with a 53p daily standing charge. Gas 7p per kWh with a 30p standing charge.

Octopus Key and Card

Description

Instead of receiving post-usage bills for your energy consumption, our system allows you to pre-load energy credits onto your meter before usage. If you already possess a second-generation (SMETS2) smart meter, we have the capability to remotely switch your payment mode. Rest assured, we always inform you in advance before making any changes to your meter.

For those with a first-generation (SMETS1) smart meter, we encourage you to reach out to our team to discuss your specific situation.

With a prepayment smart meter, you have the flexibility to top up your energy credits through various channels, including online, our app, in-store, or over the phone with our energy specialists. In-store top-ups can be conveniently done at any PayPoint location by using the barcode on your app or providing the cashier with your top-up number (PAN). If preferred, we can also send you a card with a barcode for PayPoint transactions.

For customers with traditional meters that do not automatically transmit readings, we provide a top-up key for electricity and a top-up card for gas. These keys/cards contain information about your property and energy tariff and can be used to replenish your meter balance at local payment points.

Octopus Flux Import

Description

Octopus Flux is a tariff designed for import and export, strategically optimized to provide you with the most favorable rates for both consuming and selling your energy while contributing to grid support during peak periods.

It offers exceptionally affordable rates from 02:00 to 05:00 every day, providing an ideal opportunity to replenish your battery with any additional energy required.

During the peak hours between 16:00 and 19:00, a higher rate is in place, presenting the optimal time to discharge your battery and export any surplus energy back to the grid. This dynamic pricing structure encourages efficient energy usage and contributes to overall grid stability.

Octopus Go February 2023 v1

Description

The intelligent pricing plan offers highly affordable electricity rates from 00:30 to 04:30 every night. With Octopus Go, you can recharge your vehicle at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional cars, allowing you to refuel for approximately one-tenth of the price. This results in keeping your fuel expenses at an economical 3p per mile.

The Octopus Go Tariff is tailored for customers who own or have a long-term lease for a battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid vehicle that they plan to charge at home. To be eligible for this tariff, ownership of such a vehicle is required. If you are in the process of acquiring one and have an order number available, we can facilitate the switch to this tariff so that you are prepared to charge as soon as your vehicle arrives.

Cosy Octopus

Description

Cosy Octopus is a three-rate tariff that introduces daily double dip Cosy Hours, offering six hours of exceptionally affordable electricity to warm your home.

1. A standard day rate, aligning with the typical Flexible Octopus rate in your region.
2. Two cosy periods featuring super cheap rates, occurring from 04:00 to 07:00 and 13:00 to 16:00 daily. These rates are 40% lower than the Flexible Octopus rate in your region.
3. A peak rate from 16:00 to 19:00, priced at 60% above the standard Octopus flexible rate in your region.
